Sometimes Christmas miracles happen in the bathroom! It's true!

I told you all I had something to tell you that would make you cry for me. Here it is:

Our house is becoming a senior citizen, I am afraid. She is creaking and cracking and growing old. With her old age, hard times have come upon her, as her care takers are too busy care taking children to care take her. But alas, her rescuer has come. In the form of a guy we refer to as "big Rhett".

cute huh?

Our "little Rhett"

was not necessarily named after him, so much as because of him. We love "big Rhett" and he is one of my favorite friends of Corey's (the whole 3 he has, he is just NOT that social). When our 3rd child, (our first son), went 15 days without a name because Corey wouldn't budge on the name, Nathan, and I wouldn't commit to it, I finally said "Fine! But I get to name the next baby!" He agreed and then completely lucked out when the name I chose for that 4th baby happened to be a name he loved anyhow. We had our "little Rhett" and he was a precious little guy. When I told my BFF his name, I could tell she didn't love it when all she said was, "oh." When she saw him 3 weeks later, she realized why we named him Rhett and liked it instantly. That was his name! He was, and always has been, a Rhett. "Little Rhett" loves "big Rhett" and I think "big Rhett" has affectionate feelings for "little Rhett" just because he was named, not after but because of, "big Rhett" Make sense? We were especially amused at a party one day when we had "big Rhett" and "little Rhett" together and we were impressing upon "little Rhett" that "big Rhett" was a Rhett also and the very reason we named "little Rhett", Rhett. We were trying to impress upon him just how exciting that was! "Little Rhett" sat there thoughtfully for a moment and randomly said to "big Rhett", "Do you like blue?" "Big Rhett" never being slow on the draw said "you know,... I do!" "Little Rhett" was amazed. They were the same!

So one day we called "big Rhett" who owns, TOBIN RESTORATION COMPANY, (Ingrain that in your mind followers because it is IMPORTANT), to come look at the bathroom in our home which is, may I remind you, now a senior citizen. After one to many toilet floods, bath tub floods, and every other kind of flood or water spillage you can think of, our floor was rotting, and molding, its way up through the vinyl, and one of us was going to fall down through it! And it wasn't going to be me because I lost ten pounds and I won't use that bathroom anyhow! "Big Rhett" gave us his advice. Months later did we follow it? Nope. We wanted to, but time and money and skill left us stupefied on the whole project. Not to mention that even if we fixed the floor the whole rest of the bathroom needed to be repaired as well, and it was just to much for our little non construction minds to comprehend. So we left it.

So a few days ago we receive this email from "big Rhett":

"We have decided as a company to do a Christmas gift this year. We thought since we repair homes that this is what we should do for our gift. We would like to have your bathroom for a couple of weeks. I have made arrangements with most of our subcontractors and suppliers who want to be a part of this project. We would do all of the demolition and get everything dry. We would then bring in our trades (plumber, electrician, carpenter and tile guys) to do the repairs. We have tile for a tub surround and tile for a new floor. Our cabinet guy will make a new vanity. Our painters will repair sheet rock and paint and our plumber will work over the plumbing system. We will install new fixtures and faucets. You will have a sparkling new bathroom. We would seal off the doorway and lock the door when we leave everyday so you couldn't see what it looked like. We would clean carpets in the hallway, living room and down the stairs when all the work is done. After we are done we would have an unveiling of the new bathroom, kind of like extreme makeover. This would be a good project for our employees and give them a chance to do something good for Christmas. It would be good for both of us. I need to have your permission to go ahead. We would like to start 12/7. What do you think?"

What do I think? When I stop crying and smiling and doing a happy/thankful/thrilled/ecstatic dance I'll let you know!

To the angel bathroom miracle workers: Seriously, we are humbled. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. You can't possible know what it means to us. Actually I'll show some pictures of our bathroom in its present state, (brave I know), and maybe then you'll know what it means to us. I hope you know. I hope you know what your talent and gift can bring to our lives. Relief, safety, and answered prayers. We are blessed to rub shoulders with you in the hallway of our home as you reconstruct our bathroom and, a huge smidgen of our lives. We are in awe at your humble generosity.

To Claudine ("big Rhett's" wife): Behind every good man is of course a woman and that's you! Thank you for your friendship and hand me downs.

Even more good news, as "big Rhett" and his crew were looking at our bathroom they realized if they change the door on the bathroom our other three old doors, in the same hall way, would look even more old. One man signaled to "big Rhett" to give us all new doors there, as well. Just like that. New doors. Doors I have wanted for the whole 8 years we have lived here. White, new, hole free, beautiful, fresh doors. Thanks.

The pictures turned out a little crazy because of the lighting but here it goes...

This is part of the vanity. Because it had to be centered there was just wood on the side by the wall. I was constantly having to clean out dust and debris from that.

The floor is all raised here from water making the wood swell. No base boards. We took the baseboards out and had plastic ones to replace them but didn't have the right kind of saw.

Hole in the door....Really?

Crackage

Shower panels that were breaking apart and the window was so old and too huge for a bathroom window right there by the shower, don't you think?

By the tub and floor the wood was just disintegrated and swelling and raising...

More of the same. This was a pretty cheap vanity. The drawers became crooked as toddlers used them as step stools! UhhGG! It is frustrating. Unintentionally the kids ruin everything. My sister in law Tracy has given me comfort one day in telling me, "You can have things or you can have kids." I chose the kids. I love that choice. It was the right choice for us. But it is difficult sometimes.

Mirrior from when I was a kid, the sink would never drain. We found out it was becsaue the pipes were a little wrong. No place to hang a hand towel becasue it was broken.

This picture doesn't quite show it but most of all these dark spots on the linoleum are the wet moldy spots.

Today was demo day and I thoroughly annoyed the workers with my pictures taking. I will keep you all updated as to how it's going!

Upon request, I will rehash my painful day with my Glenny

I was driving along listening to Glenny like no big deal. A lady caller calls in and made her statement. After she hung up Glenn says to Pat a little under his breath, Did you hear what I did? Pat seemed to know what he was insinuating and agreed he'd heard it. Then Glenny said "I wonder how heavy she is?".

SCREEEEEECHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Back the truck up! Did you actually just refer to her weight?

I was a little confused as to what he was talking about. He then proceeded to crack me up by saying he does that all the time... He will be talking on the phone and "beep, boop, bop, beep" as his fat cheek hits the buttons on the phone while he is trying to talk. So he was wondering how fat she was because her phone hit her cheek and made beeping sounds during the phone conversation.

Alright, alright. It was a little funny. But still....pushing it just a bit.

THEN.....He was talking about Cindy Crawford. He said, and I quote: (ha! Love to say that) "You remember when Cindy I mean, Cindy Crawford is still beautiful. But do you remember when she was, like when she was young?" ....

Hmmm. Uhh..I think she is only in her 40's which is really the new 30's and since she has been having spa treatment all her life she probably is only in her 20's and it really doesn't get much better than her as far as looking good.

There is just so much pressure on us to stay young looking. I think it is rude.

ANYWAYS,

So today,

since I am not a grudge holder and because Glenny is,

"My Glenny"

I have 100% forgiven him and will still plan on hearting him.

Finding Christ for Christmas day 3

Last night was a fluke apparently, because today no one cared that much. Oh well. I assumed there would be days like this. I shan't get discouraged.

Because today was even busier than yesterday, we just had a quick talk about Christ. I used the pictures from the gospel art kit about Mary and Martha. Mary was listening to Christ, Martha was frustrated and busy working. I feel sad for Martha. Seriously SAD! I think I am definitely her. I have a sweet friend (Shay) who is definitely Mary. Good lesson for me!

Too sad to write a title

My Glenny said

TWO

things on his radio show today that annoyed me.

TWO!!

Sad Huh?

In all my time listening to him he has never said ANYTHING to halt my undying love for him. I think having so many men on his show (Pat and Stew) talking all at once in a big joking way is having a bad influence on him. You know, how boys in a crowd misbehave more...

Finding Christ for Christmas Day 2

Tonight was the best. It makes a world of difference to put the two little people to bed. Thus, we never even started our "lesson" until 10:30! Crazy I know! But we had a crazy night and day and it is what it is. I told the kids that this is the most important thing we were going to do all day.

We sat around the ginormous beautiful oak table we were gifted and we talked about Mary and we read in Luke about when the Angel Gabriel told her she was pregnant and how she must have felt. how she was probably amazed to see an angel but astonished at the news. We talked about how it was probably a relief to her that her cousin Elisabeth was also pregnant. I thought about how maybe that was God's gift to help her. Giving her someone to go through this with. We talked about how Mary journeyed instantly to see Elisabeth where she probably received comfort from an old friend. How Elisabeth's baby lept inside of her and how Elisabeth asked her why has the mother of the Lord come to see me.

It was all beautiful. Truly. The kids sat listening with such intensity. Nathan especially. They listened and I think their spirits understood. Then we listened to Breath of Heaven and I explained the whole song to them. That song is so incredible. We all need Breath of Heaven in our lives, don't we? To hold us together and light our darkness? I told the kids that. That they can pray for light in their darkness.

I think this might actually be working. I think we are finding Him. I am touched beyond words.

The kids were thrilled to move their sheep to day two star. We marked Day One with a sign that said "Jesus is our Shepard, We are His sheep". Tomorrow when we move to star three and I will mark star two with "Mary was His mother". We will be able to track our journey.

It pays to waste time on the computer blog stalking!

I have discovered
THE
coolest,
greatest,
awesomeest,
blog...
and I can no longer hog it all to myself...
I must share.

For a long time now I have heard about these crazy coupon clippers who are able to buy all the groceries for their families for way cheap. I have even seen...YES, I witnessed this!!!!...the store give a lady back money that they owed her for all her couponing!

As a mom who wants to be a stay at home mom more than anything, (aside from living my dream as a personal stalker, I mean, assistant to Glenny), and continue to stay home for a long time even after my kids are grown, (I want to stay home and be grandma and work on my writings and work on starting my orphanage) I really need to be saving money! I have read Dave Ramsey, (LOVE HIM) and have always been mostly frugal (minus Christmas) and certainly not extravagant by any means, but I have always wanted to be one of these coupon people who seem to be able to work magic with their coupons. So far I haven't been able to "get" it but I found this great site of this lady who is going to teach me! I'll let you know how it goes!

To go to her site I have put her "button" on the side of my blog. It is called "My Litter" as she has 6 children. So look for it.

For those of you who hate my spider, to my great annoyance, I moved him to the very bottom where you don't have to see him unless you want to! I don't get it...Spiders do not bug me at all! Have I mentioned we have a snake loose in our house? Poor Dexter! We can't find him.

Christ for Christmas Day One!

Do you guys think it is funny that Corey never even mentioned one time why I had stars hanging all over the house? I guess he is just use to me.

John 10:27-30 "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any [man] pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave [them] me, is greater than all; and no [man] is able to pluck [them] out of my Father's hand. I and [my] Father are one."

Tonight on day number one of Finding Christ for Christmas we read this scripture and discussed that we are His sheep. We discuss what happens to us if we do not follow the Shepard and ways we can become lured away from the flock. This is why we have our faces taped to sheep of course.

Although one child made obnoxious noises through part of it and "someone" was still up and distracting us with her chubby little cutie pie fatty pants little self, (Kate, not me) I was happy they all understood already that Christ was our Shepard and we needed to follow Him. They seem willing and excited to sit down and discuss, which is a great sign.

The tree looks awesome with the pictures of Christ hanging about. I think I will let the kids add other ornaments as one child was sad to not help decorate it. But Christ is definitely the theme. I have a "We Believe" little ornament on there. I want to find as many as I can for the tree. Not because we believe in Santa like the "We believe" probably means but because "We Believe" in Christ. Help me find them!

I have the most Incredible Awesome Fabulous news to share in a later post. That is all I can expose now until my husband gives me the word but trust me you are all going to want to cry for me when you hear it! And no...sadly and gladly...I'm not pregnant!

Nathan told me today that Obama asked a bunch of people what person we celebrated Christmas for. Apparently Cinderella was the consensus. What the chicken? Somehow I think he got the story confused. I even googled it and couldn't find anything.

Hello, my old friend.

It's been about six months since I have seen your face. I decided today that I needed you again, back in my life. School is all but a mi...
