Red Wood Forest!

One of our first visits was Henry Cowells Redwoods State Park.  We walked the loop trail. It was a perfect taste of the redwoods. They were huge but not the huge kind you could drive through. It was so peaceful and quiet and cool.

Kassidy adored every aspect of it because it was somewhere where the hobbits would have lived. She seriously could not get enough of it. Every tree she was going to build her hobbit home into.

The way these tress grow is interesting. "The tallest tress in the world have a shallow root system growing only 6-12 feet below the surface. Instead of growing deep, their roots grow out extending hundreds of feets literally. Wrapping their roots around other redwood roots, these tress help each other stay in the ground until flood and wind finally knock them over."

Little hearts....so cute. I really wanted to see a banana slug. But didn't.

This is us INSIDE STANDING UP in a tree. SO cool!

The purse I sewed to show my friends~ Worked perfect!

I think this was the tree that had fire in it. The pamphlet said "Most fires cannot penetrate the thick  fibrous and almost fire resistant redwood bark."

AMAZING!

This was one of Justine's pictures. She loved the little drinking fountain for dogs.

This trip was so great to get a better chance to know my niece and nephew. I enjoyed it desperately. They are both so neat. It was such a true "treat".

Zoe is a stylish little thing and wants her hair perfect every day. Wendy was so glad to have Justine take over hair fixing duties. She did cute things with Zoe's hair every day. I really did't know Justine was so good with hair!

Zoe was in heaven when Justine let Zoe fix her hair. So cute.

So Zoe really loves dogs. A lot. We had to stop and talk to every dog we saw.

"Marshall" He could bow. It was super clever.

"Rory" He could howl "I love you". Loudly.

Wendy is a funny crazy loon. We had to get a pop at McDonald's. Zoe REALLY wanted a piece of cheese. She is Kooky! I suggested they probably sell things like that for dogs through the McDonald's drive through. Wendy asked if they had cheese for dogs. And they DID. Happy day. Lol. So Wendy stuck the dog puppet  on her lap to be all loony. It worked. They thought she as nuts. But we got the cheese. 30 cents. I know. You probably had to be there. :)

This is their real dog. "Mikey". This dog is a riot. He cracked me up. At night the girls would have to take cover because he would lick their faces. lol.

Hello, my old friend.

It's been about six months since I have seen your face. I decided today that I needed you again, back in my life. School is all but a mi...
